“I have had sleepless nights thinking about the lack of continued financial support for artists. The plight of underprivileged people and how difficult it is for them to access dignified education has also been a matter of great concern to me. One fine day it struck me- instead of worrying about this, let me be an agent of change that I want to see in society. That moment for me is the birth of Samarpana. I strongly feel that it is imperative to give back to art that is always helping us evolve into better human beings, and to society as a mark of gratitude for all the privilege we enjoy. This is not just my movement but ours.”

Art as we know it today has survived despite enormous challenges because of the generous patronage that it received, both from the audiences in terms of continued interest and engagement, and abundant financial support from those in power. The very identity of a culture and a mark of its prosperity is measured by how its arts flourish and grow. In order to carry forward this heritage and create an enduring legacy of art here onwards, artists need sustained financial support that allows them to live their lives with dignity and engage in creative pursuit.
